Up North
3 days Mae Hong Son
Day 1 Early start from Chiang Mai. First we see an orchid nursery. After about an hour we stop at a local market where you can see mountain people and their products. After that we go in the mountains towards Pai and we make a stop at a very beautiful Karen village and some hot springs. We spend the night in the cozy town of Pai. If you want you can explore the town by mountain bike.
Day 2 In the morning we visit the beautiful Tham Lod cave in Soppong. Also we visit a Lisu and a Lahu hill tribe village, after that to Mae Hong Son where we visit the Doi Kong Mu temple on top of a mountain and with a beautiful view of the Mae Hong Son valley. After that to the village of the Padong Longnecks. Overnight in a city hotel with aircon in Mae Hong Son.
Day 3 We continue the Mae Hong Son loop south to Khun Yuam. From there we drive to Mae Chaem on the foot of the Doi Inthanon Mountain, the highest mountain in Thailand. We drive to the top of Doi Inthanon (2596 meters). We visit two pagodas here erected for the king and queen. There is a beautiful view from here. Also we do a nature walk in a very mysterious forest. We end with the big Vachirathan waterfall, you can swim here. Late afternoon back to Chiang Mai.
3 Days Chiang Rai Adventure & Comfort
Day 1 Start of our tour. Drive north of Chiang Mai towards Chiang Dao. First visit the Orchid Farm in Mae Rim. After that to the elephant camp where you will see the elephants take their morning bath and demonstrate some of their skills. Then to Chiang Dao Caves and have lunch in a village. From here we start our walk to a Karen village. After that half hour walk to Lisu and Akha village. Then 1 hour walk to the Palong village. The walk will not be difficult and can be done by everybody who likes to walk. However, when you do not like to walk you can use the minivan and you will see the same villages. We spend the night in the Palong village. See the Palong tribe who only recently came to settle in Thailand from Burma. Accommodation in the village is simple but comfortable. We provide mattresses, mosquito nets and clean sleeping bags. Bathroom available. The guide will start preparing dinner. You will be surprised about the tasteful meals in this primitive surroundings. It is nice to walk through the village and try to communicate with the people. After dinner everybody sits with the host family and a lot of stories will be told by hands and feet. Sometimes we can make a campfire for you and maybe there is somebody in the village with a guitar. Everybody sleeps early because they get up at sunrise
Day 2 In the morning we drive to Tha Ton where we will go to see a big Buddha statue on top of a mountain. Then to the famous Longneck Tribe. After that we drive to Doi Mae Salong, a Chinese village on top of a mountain. When Chairman Mao founded the Peoples Republic of China in 1949 the Kuomintang led by Chiang Kai Shek had to escape. Most people went to Taiwan but a small group escaped to Thailand. We visit the local market and we taste the famous Oolong tea. After that we go to Doi Tung to visit the Royal Project. The mother of the present king established a project for the hill tribe people who used to grow opium. Now they are stimulated to grow vegetables and flowers and you can see the beautiful Mae Fah Luang flower garden here. Also we visit the famous Doi Tung temple with a splendid view of the surrounding valley. Then on to Chiang Rai where we will spend the night in a nice hotel. If you want you can visit the famous night bazaar.
Dag3 In the morning we go to the Burmese border at Mae Sai and spend some time to explore this bustling market town. If you want you can cross to the Burmese town of Tachilek. Then we drive to the Golden Triangle and Chiang Saen on the banks of the Mekong River. See the point where the three countries of Burma, Laos & Thailand converge. After that we see the ancient temples of Chiang Saen. On the way back we make a very nice coffee stop at a beautiful place with the best bakery of the north.
Starters Tour Bangkok-River Kwai
Dag 1
Arrival at Bangkok airport and transfer to your hotel, situated in the cosy Banglamphu area. Rest of the day free at leisure.
Dag 2
In the morning we visit the Grand Palace and take a fascinating walking tour in Chinatown. After lunch we visit the small canals of Bangkok by speedboat.
Dag 3
First we visit the floating market at Damnoen Saduak. After that we continue to Kanchanaburi. In the afternoon we visit the war museum, the war cemetery and the famous bridge on the River Kwai by speedboat.
Dag 4
Today we go the the beautiful Erawan national park where we can climb the seven steps of the waterfall. In the afternoon we drive to Ayutthaya where we visit the ruins of the old capital. After that by nighttrain to Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai-Sukothai-Chiang Khan
Day 1 Drive from Chiang Mai south to Lampang where we visit the
beautiful Wat phra Tat Lampang Luang and the elephant conservation
centre. Lunch in Sukothai. We visit the old capital. Overnight in
Phitsanulok.
Day 2 Drive to Chiang Khan. Overnight in Chiang Khan Guest House on the Mekong River.
Day 3 Visit Thai Dam minority group, boattrip on the Mekong and overnight.
Day 4 Transfer to Nong Khai and nighttrain to Bangkok or Udon Thani for flight
